I HELP TURTLES 

We are pleased to announce that Think Turtle is launching a new car magnet. 

This car magnet design is part of an awareness campaign to celebrate the people who help turtles and inspire others to join efforts to protect Ontario's species at risk. 

No one person can spread a message that promotes conservation and environmental sustainability as effectively as a team of caring and like-minded people. The simplest of messages, displayed in just the right way, can speak volumes. 

Proudly displaying the I HELP Turtles car magnet on your vehicle may prompt consideration, conversation, and action. Together, we can make a difference!

About The Car Magnet

The car magnet is 5.25″ high and 5.25″ wide and die-cut in a circular shape. We went with yellow because it attracts the eye easily and will be noticeable to other motorists. We like that yellow is associated with positivity and optimism, which is at the core of conservation efforts. 

Going "mobile" with the I HELP Turtles message also reminds motorists in a friendly manner there are vehicle operators that help turtles across roads when it is safe to do so. The I HELP Turtles car magnets are $5 each.

Purchasing Details

If interested in purchasing a car magnet, they are available via curbside pick-up at our office in L'amable, in-store purchase, mail order, and at upcoming events. We are set-up at the Bancroft Farmers' Market, most Saturdays  July - October 9 am - 1 pm.

Payment Details
Payment for car magnets purchased through curbside pick-up or mail order can be sent to Think Turtle Conservation Initiative via e-Transfer to thinkturtle@yahoo.com or paid in cash at the time of pick-up. Please check availability prior to sending an e-Transfer.

1 Car Magnet $5 (magnet) + $2.19 (postage/HST) = $7.19

2 Car Magnets $10 (magnets) + $3.60 (postage/HST) = $13.60

5 Car Magnets $25 (magnets) + $5.02 (postage/HST) = $30.02

Mail Order (Outside of Ontario)

If you are interested in having a car magnet mailed outside of Ontario, please get in touch. We are happy to check the postage cost at the post office based on the address of the magnet that is to be sent.

Other I HELP Turtles Items

At the forefront of the "I HELP Turtles" awareness campaign is the new car magnet or if you prefer we have t-shirts, bumper stickers and pinback buttons sharing the same message. See photos below.. 

T-shirts: The I HELP Turtles t-shirts are available in adult sizes Small - XXL in two color versions. Black t-shirt with yellow design and a yellow t-shirt with black design. We also have a few black t-shirts with the design in white and a 2nd version with the I HELP Turtles design in green. The I HELP Turtles t-shirts are $25 each

Pinback Buttons: The I HELP Turtles pin-back buttons are 1.5" x 1.5" and cute as a button. Each pin-back button has a metal pin for fastening to clothing, backpacks, jackets, hats, purses, bags, etc. The I HELP Turtles buttons are $2 each.

Bumper Stickers: The I HELP Turtles bumper stickerss are 5.25″ high and 5.25″ wide and die-cut in a circular shape. We are happy to mail the bumper stickers the sample postage costs apply as do the car magnets. The I HELP Turtles bumper stickers are $5 each.

Note: Should you be interested in a t-shirt, bumper sticker or button please note these items are "NOT" available at Home Hardware. If interested in purchasing a t-shirt and having it shipped to a location within Ontario, shipping 1 x t-shirt (size small through to large) can be sent as over sized letter mail for $5 - $6. Larger sized t-shirts (XL - XXL) will need to be shipped as a package because they exceed Canada Post's over sized letter mail requirements as well as multiple t-shirts purchases. We can check with the post prior to purchase to determine the exact shipping cost.

After costs, funds from the sale of each car magnet, t-shirt and button will go towards the education initiatives and species efforts Think Turtle Conservation Initiative is engaged in.

CAR MAGNET PLACEMENT

Here is a suggestion to consider. We have noticed that there are many makes and models of vehicles that a car magnet cannot be applied to the back end because it is plastic. A location on the back of many cars that is metal and a 5.25″ x 5.25″ car magnet will stick on is the inset areas either side of the licence plate. See arrow on photo.

Car Magnet Application & Care

Application

As turtle awareness magnets are most effective through turtle season, April to October, it is recommended that you remove your turtle car magnet from your vehicle for the winter and store it where it can lay flat. In the spring, re-install your car magnet in April. It is recommended that you apply your car magnet to a clean and dry vehicle for the best possible application. 

Before applying a car magnet to your vehicle, please use a "dry" soft cloth to wipe the front and back of the magnet to remove any tiny bits that may be present from the printing and cutting process.

Otherwise, use a soft "wet" cloth to clean the location on the vehicle to which you intend to apply the car magnet, followed by a soft "dry" cloth to dry the location. Using only water to clean the location is the best choice. Avoid using chemical products that may leave an invisible residue on the surface. 

Care

If you are planning to drive your vehicle through an automatic car wash, you should temporarily "remove" the car magnet so the cleaning apparatus does not fetch the car magnet off the vehicle. 

The magnet should be removed at regular intervals to guard against moisture and dirt buildup between it and the metal surface of your vehicle. Clean the magnet and metal surfaces with mild detergent; wipe them with a soft cloth or air dry.

Suppose your custom magnet leaves a residue when removed. In that case, it is recommended that you mix a gentle dish soap in hot water, apply it to the surface, and then carefully and slowly remove the residue with a plastic card or something similar that will not scratch your vehicle.

What can you do with old magnets?

Unfortunately, magnetic products are not recyclable at this time, but if taken care of, they can be used for many years. After that, they can be repurposed for artistic endeavors, office use, or fun. In almost every household, the refrigerator tends to be command central. It acts as a bulletin board for current events, important news, flyers, shopping lists, and a personal gallery of kids' drawings and photos. Button-type magnets can be used as is, and magnetic products can be cut and put to new use. Fridge magnets can be freshened up with a new design. Clips can be glued to button magnets to hold papers or coupons you want to keep handy. Get creative, reuse, repurpose, and upcycle as much as possible to keep items out of the landfill.
