WATCH 4 TURTLE SIGNS

WATCH 4 TURTLES SIGNS

Help raise awareness in your community!

Think Turtle has three different types of Watch 4 Turtles signs are available for curbside pick up at the our office in L’amable, Bancroft, at public events we attend, and for wooden signs only, there are also available for in store purchase in Coe Hill and Apsley.

WHY SIGNS ARE IMPORTANT

Turtles can be seen crossing roads at any time during turtle season, typically from April through October. The period from April to mid July is especially active. Turtles are emerging from hibernation, males are traveling in search of mates, females are looking for nesting sites, and turtles are moving in response to changing water levels, flooding, or drought. Hatchlings may also appear during this time, along with movements that are simply part of their natural behaviour.

Turtle awareness signs act as a clear visual reminder to drivers that turtles may be on the road ahead. In many areas, especially rural roads, cottage country, the edges of communities, and ATV trails, turtle movement is not always obvious. These signs help bring attention to something drivers might not otherwise expect.

SHIPPING AND PICK UP

These signs are considered oversized, which makes mailing or shipping costly.

In many cases, we may be able to connect your order with someone travelling to or through your community and arrange a local pick up. Please do not let distance from Bancroft prevent you from helping raise awareness in your area.

SIGN PLACEMENT

Please do not attach signs to 911 markers, hydro poles, or existing street signs. Always obtain permission before installing a sign on property that is not your own.

PAYMENT

Please contact Think Turtle to confirm sign availability. Payment can be made by e transfer to thinkturtle@yahoo.com, by cheque, or by cash at the time of pick up.

SIGN SALES

Funds from each sign go toward covering the cost of materials and producing additional signs. This initiative is about raising awareness, not generating profit.

Please consider sharing information about Watch 4 Turtles signs with family, friends, and your community. Every sign placed helps remind drivers to slow down and stay alert. Other wildlife will benefit from overall raised awareness.

Thank you for helping make roads safer for Ontario’s wildlife.

If you have questions about signs or any turtle related concerns, please contact Think Turtle Conservation Initiative at 647-606-9537 by phone or text, or email thinkturtle@yahoo.com.
