HELP RAISE AWARENESS & PREVENT TURTLE ROAD MORTALITY! 

We are hoping you might consider purchasing one of our new ‘Watch 4 Turtles’ car magnets to help raise awareness. Going ‘mobile’ with the Watch 4 Turtles message will serve to remind more motorists to be mindful of turtles while driving on main roads and secondary roads in cottage country, rural communities and the outskirts of urban communities as well as on ATV trails. 

Visual cues that remind motorists to watch for one of the smaller wildlife species crossing roads also serve to remind motorists to be mindful of all the wildlife we share the roads with. About The Car Magnet 

The car magnet is 5″ high and 8.5″ wide. It is die cut in the shape of a turtle making it easily recognizable to other motorists on the road. Some people have been putting them on their metal mailbox. The design features the ‘Watch 4 Turtles’ message we has been promoting since 2018 to raise awareness and help prevent turtle road mortality. The turtle design in combination with the words is a registered trademark of Think Turtle Conservation Initiative (R).  

The ‘Watch 4 Turtles’ car magnets are $5 each and available to purchase in select stores, via mail order, curbside pick-up and events we will be participating in.

Curbside Pick-up 

Car magnets are available for curbside pick-up in Bancroft (L’amable), Apsley and Gravenhurst. Later this month they will be available in Guelph. If interested in purchasing a car magnet they are available via curbside pick-up please get in touch with Think Turtle. Payment can be sent via e-Transfer to thinkturtle@yahoo.com or paid in cash at the time of pick-up.

Car Magnets Sometimes Stick to Paint

Car magnets are not just an affordable but also an effective way to promote your business or show support for a cause. However, if not properly maintained, they can occasionally stick to your vehicle's paint and become difficult to remove. In this post, we'll explain why car magnets can adhere to paint over time and offer practical tips to prevent this, helping keep your vehicle's finish in excellent shape.

Why Car Magnets Stick to Paint

Several factors can cause car magnets to cling more firmly to your vehicle's paint, including:

Dirt and debris: Dust and particles can collect between the magnet and the car's surface, creating extra friction and making it harder to remove.

- To keep your car magnets from sticking, follow these easy maintenance tips:

- Choose a high-quality magnet with a smooth backing to minimize paint scratches.

- Check the car's paint for damage and repair as needed before applying a magnet.

- Clean and dry both the magnet and vehicle surface before applying a magnet. 

- Regularly clean the magnet and vehicle to remove dirt and moisture. 

- Remove magnets in extreme weather (like heavy rain or snow) to avoid moisture buildup. 

Excessive moisture can lead to rust and paint damage, making the magnet more difficult to remove and potentially causing permanent damage to your vehicle's paint.

Periodically reposition the magnet to prevent it from adhering too firmly to the paint.

Consider alternatives like window decals or car wraps in humid or wet environments to reduce magnet-related paint risks.

How To Remove A Car Magnet That Has Stuck To A Vehicle 

First off, don't panic! With care and patience, the magnet can be removed without damaging the paint surface. It the magnet appears partially suck to your vehicle peel off any parts that will come away with ease. 

Heating the rest of the car magnet that is adhering to your vehicle with a hairdryer on medium setting will weaken the bond between the vehicle's body and the magnet. The magnet will soften and become pliable to the point that you can peel it off in pieces or its entirety. DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN). DO NOT attempt to remove a  car magnet that is sticking to your vehicle with solvents or sharp implements. See attached photos.
